BIO

Randy is a second generation industry expert with 46 years of industry experience and now semi-retired.  Randy has extensive background in professional service delivery, blinds & shades, draperies, shutters, and motorization. He started in a full-service drapery workroom in 1971, learning drapery and top treatment construction techniques, as well as fabrics, slipcovers, upholstery, drapery hardware assembly and installation from old-school craftsmen.  Randy spent 22 years in the field installing the full range of window covering categories in both high-end residential environments and commercial settings.  He has been a licensed specialty contractor since 1981 (CA #424741).

 

Randy left his installation career to begin work at the wholesale level to offer industry innovations such as the development of proprietary technical reference guides and connecting individual manufacturers to the broad installer community.  In the role of National Installation Manager, Randy created, launched, managed and successfully grew the two largest centralized installer networks in the US; In the first instance, for the Costco carpet and window covering programs (1997) and in the   second instance, for Springs Window Fashions’ Measure & Install program (2004). In the latter instance, Randy also held all the contractor’s licenses for the States and municipalities requiring them.

 

Randy authored his initial reference training guide Hard Window Coverings Made Easy, in 1991.  Since that time he has authored several trend-setting industry reference books.  He has conducted hundreds of training sessions both in person and online, based on these reference materials.  In addition, he has an expertise in producing PowerPoint-based training with voice clips that are interactive and designed to be accessible online.

 

Randy combines his college degree in Education and Psychology with his deep-rooted industry experience. He creates systematic learning methods that begin by incorporating easy to grasp core concepts. The concepts are then sequenced into a unique learning path which enables the student to build a product knowledge base that is intuitive, easy to learn, easy to retain and that can be applied universally to all brands of product and to all project partnership environments.
